This post links to a presentation deck on SlideShare that highlights how social media and other digital technologies are impacting organizational functioning beyond marketing. The presentation also highlights the implications of new technologies for job and career options, as well as career management for employees of all types.

On November 11, 2011, I participated in Social Media Immersion Day at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. In addition to administering and debriefing the SMQ (Social Media Quotient) Quiz, I gave a presentation that highlighted:
- The applications and implications of social media and other digital technologies beyond external applications like marketing.
- The ways in which the marketing profession and related job opportunities have been – and will continue to be – transformed by new digital technologies.
- How new technologies will impact the employment experiences of all individuals throughout their careers.
I have made my presentation deck, which also includes many resources for further reading, available on the SMinOrgs SlideShare channel. You can view it below or directly on SlideShare.
As always, I welcome your comments and questions.
- Courtney Hunt
PS – One of the other speakers was Geoff McHale, a Vice President at comScore. I have also uploaded a white paper he referred to – The Power of Like – to SlideShare. Click here to access it.
I would recommend this Social Immersion event for graduates. This is kind of like introduction to the world of social media and its career perks.
