Coutney, I would add knowledge management to the list for concepts, skills, and management competencies(leadership). The knowledge worker in the future, (with the competencies that you list), will return the most value to a company and I believe should/will be rewarded the most, both professionally and personally.

Thanks for your thoughtful addition, Mike. Like many professional roles, knowledge workers will continue to evolve as the Digital Era continues to progress.

Thank you for this post. I'm trying now to levy a career boost (or even a change) by seeking out new knowledge and skills. I've been mostly on the front desk, and due to a learning disability in math, am severely limited in employment prospects thanks to the recession. I already blog and use some social media. Gaining more focused digital skills might open some doors for me. Your list gives me something to shoot for.

Thanks for your comment, Mabel - and good luck!
