A sample of the activity on the SMinOrgs (and GCDEL) Tumblelog, this post shares recent entries about social and digital technologies ranging from videos (3 of them!) to research reports to original photos. A little something for everyone...

SMinOrgs (and GCDEL) recently established a presence on Tumblr, and I have become an ardent fan. I detailed some of the reasons for my Tumblr enthusiasm in a post entitled Tumbln into Tumblr: 7 Reasons it Hits a Social Media “Sweet Spot”. I'd like to demonstrate the platform's versatility by sharing our activity as a regular feature on this blog. I hope you enjoy the entries as much as we do.

Digital Era Tourist Attraction

This photo kiosk on Michigan Avenue in Chicago was a hoot! Pam Ross and I got a huge kick out of it! The “touch screen” was tough to use, but we were finally successful at sharing the image.

Iron Mountain Adapts to Digital Era Realities
Posted October 8, 2012
Anyone who’s been working long enough thinks of Iron Mountain as a company that stores paper. This van shows how they’ve changed their business model to adapt to Digital Era realities. The “Now Hiring!” ad indicates that their traditional business is still thriving, however. I wonder what the van will say in another few years. - csh (September 2012)

America Online Video circa 1995

Awesome AOL video (circa 1985) demonstrates the deep roots of social technologies.
This video was embedded in a piece written by Steve Case titled Even in 1985, We Knew Facebook Was Possible. The article is okay, but the video is a must-watch. Who believes that was 17 years ago?!?! And does anyone besides me remember how much AOL spammed us, via the US mail, to get us to sign up? - csh
